Guests at weddings

I really love it when I see guests fiddling with their phones trying to take pictures or video at weddings.  I also like the picture-within-the picture idea (second photo).

Which are you?  The guest with the cellphone, or the guest who pays direct attention to the couple?

Abandoned

Last week we went to Essex MA.  These are some of the things I found worthy of photographing near the Essex Shipbuilding museum. 

It is amazing if you think that, at their time, the cars and the bicycle were really spectacularly new and costly to acquire.

Greek Easter -- Holy Week

In Greek Orthodox tradition there is no "Holy Week" -- it is referred to as "Great Week" (Gr: Μεγάλη Εβδομάδα).  It starts with the Palm Sunday.  However most of the "church-going" begins on Wednesday afternoon with the Holy Unction.  In fact, Holy Unction is one of the 7 mysteries in the Greek Orthodox faith.

By Thursday evening we are all prepared with for our celebration (egg photo taken with cell phone)

However, the most solemn "practices" begin in the evening of Great Thursday, with the crucifixion of Christ.

Butterflies

I recently had the opportunity to photograph some butterflies.  Not the easiest of subjects.  They are not good at keeping long poses.  And what makes it worse is that they enjoy flying from one flower to the other without giving me a warning :-)  and then they usually fly away.

So, I always feel lucky when I am able to get an interesting shot of one (or two, or three).

Main Street, Gloucester

I have not posted here in some time.  So, today, with the nice weather, I took a stroll down Main street in Gloucester, MA.  I took a couple of photos of the stores, I liked these two, and I figured that this is a fine opportunity for a new post.

Next time I go down Main street, the trees will have to have leaves, and tourists will be walking up and down.  That will make a great contrast.

Rain

I know it is December, and in New England it means cold and wet. And we had enough of both -- thankfully not at the same time. 
As I was looking at these drops, I couldn't help myself but think of how I miss the nice hot rain-free summer days.
